The shop has shown a lot of promise this first year of operations. We are fulfilling our mission in regards to becoming a part of the Orange County community by forming relationships and increasing public awareness of mental illness.
Considering the limited retail space of the shop, sales have been brisk. However, we need to expand our business if we are going to be self-sufficient. We plan to do this by using our existing sorting room for furniture sales and relocating our office and processing space to the second floor of the shop. This should prove profitable and at the same time it will provide much needed space for additional member participation.
We are currently seeking additional grants to fund the job training that goes on everyday in the shop as well as the structural improvements. Many of our future goals are dependent on the renovations being planned for the second floor. The first step will be to build a back staircase to provide easier access. With this in mind, our architects are currently drawing plans for the staircase. Be sure to check back here for progress updates.
